In 1974, a group of young high school actors started doing acting in plays at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, ultimately moving in the basement of church in Highland Park in Chicago. Afterwards they began on their journey to become one of the utmost protruding theatre companies in the whole world. Steppenwolf Theatre Company completely transformed the face of American Theatre with its inventive style that blends dynamic collaborative performance, authentic, acting and bold, stimulating stories to create enthralling theatre. Steppenwolf Theatre was founded in 1974 by Gray Sinise, Terry Kinney, and Jeff Perry. In 1975, Steppenwolf integrated as a non-profit and produced one play during that summer, the â€Å"Effect of Gamma Rays on Main the Moon Marigolds.† During the summer of 1976, with a recently established company that included founders from Terry Kinney to Alan Wilder, the company took place in the basement of Immaculate Conception Catholic school in Highland Park which shaped its first season of plays. In the year of 1980, the company moved from Highland park to the city of Chicago and moved at the Jane Adams Center which was 134 seat theatre and enlarged the ensemble. Moving on, The Steppenwolf Theatre maneuvers as a non-profit organization relying upon the community for their assistance and support to produce or present around 16 plays and nearly around 700 performances, events and other prestigious events that are held around the year on three stages. The theater’s two main programs which consists of: educational and artistic programs draw a multigenerational and mu lti-talented audience of around 200,000 from the greater metropolitan in the Chicago area, while our effect spreads well beyond this region with productions that tour nationally and globally.
